The Raleigh Salt Water Sportfishing Club is made up of individuals who are drawn together by the love of saltwater fishing. Our club focuses on informing its members of the tremendous opportunity to utilize and enjoy our natural resources.

Our club has over two hundred members. Each month we hold a member meeting, and distribute a newsletter to our membership. Our website is also updated on a regular basis. Most importantly we spend most of our time enjoying our coastal resources and helping our members catch more fish, while practicing conservation and preservation of our marine environment.

At our monthly meeting we invite coastal North Carolina's top guides and charter captains to inform our members on the latest tips, techniques, tackle, and fishing hot spots! We cover a broad range of topics from surf fishing to gulf stream action, and everything in between. We also hold several special events throughout the year for the benefit of our members.

Each year our club also holds a King Mackerel Tournament at Atlantic Beach, NC. This event is held the first weekend in August on a yearly basis. Each year our tournament attracts the area's top King Mackerel fishing teams as they compete for over $190,000 in cash and prizes.

The tournament also funds our annual donation to the Take A Kid Fishing Foundation. Each year we donate approximately $5000.00 to its support. We also award, annually, a $1000.00 scholarship to a student who is enrolled in a Marine related program and in need of financial assistance. This scholarship is known as the "Dale Ward Scholarship", named in memory of the late Dale Ward.
